more ratings update

Here's more ratings update on Tenchijin and new drama Smile...

Tenchijin:


Fortunately the ratings for the recent 2 episodes have risen into the 20s again, ratings jumped from 19.6% to 21.1% for ep 16, while ep 17 which aired on Sunday night attracted ratings of 20.1%.
This is exceptional news, hopefully the ratings will remain steady...there's still 30 eps remaining!The drama has 47 eps in total and is expected to air all throughout the year till December on NHK.

Smile:


As for the new drama Smile, in which Shun co-stars with close friend Matsumoto Jun who plays the lead male, the drama premiered on April 17th at 10pm on TBS, and attracted ratings of 11.7%, while the ratings dropped abit to 10.2% for ep 2 the following friday.

here are some tidbits about what happened courtesy of franniewei @ Asianfanatics:
*In the play Musashi, two days before the performance, Shun doesn't memorize all his lines yet so he asks Fujiwara Tatsuya to come to the rehearsal earlier and if one of them misses his lines the other one will help the other.
* In Crows Zero II, before shooting the fight scene between Housen and Suzuran, Shun and Yabe gathered all the casts for a "nomikai" (drinking party) for everyone to get to know each other and get along before the fight scenes. There was a time when Shun, Yamada Yusuke and the other guy from Housen with long hair went out to drink and Shun wanted to go home already but he didn't want to go home alone so he asks the two to continue their drinking in his house. In the end, the two felt asleep in his place. The next day, Shun left early for a job out of town and did not come home for three days. He thought that two would have gone home and just left the keys of his place but when he came home he saw Yamada Takayuke in the shower. He was surprised by what he saw but didn't mind it all, afterall they're good buddies.
* In Jounetsu Tairiku (200 days in Shun's life), the host complimented Shun for his endurance with all the things he had gone through during the busiest times of his carreer. His manager had once cried asking Shun to atleast quit for a while but he was unstoppable in doing his performances.
* In his ANN show, the host enjoys listening to his radio show especially during those times when Shun's voice sound tired yet he consistently amuse his listeners in his live show.
* Shun's high school days: The host visited Shun's school and talked with his homeroom teacher in 2nd year, Arai-sensei. Sensei told him that Shun always sleeps in her class. Shun said that he can't stand sitting on his desk for an hour and eversince he really doesn't like school that much. He doesn't like watching shows for longer hours such as stage plays. But he loves acting on stage coz he said it's fun.
* Shun's baseball team in high school: Shun wrote a message on the board in their baseball club office and even if he's no longer in the team, there are times when he would join his team mates and hang around in the restaurant "Sukhothai" run by their coach.
* Arai-sensei's letter to Shun: At the end of the show, the host read a letter from Shun's teacher while Shun stayed in the backstage. Shun was teary-eyed listening to his teacher's letter. Arai-sensei told Shun's story of quitting school after his second year and pursue his acting carreer. Shun attended his class graduation ceremony and told his teacher that he would have wanted to graduate together with his classmates but it was too late.

the video quality isn't good since it was recorded by a fancam, but it's still watchable.

His role in this really reminds me of Takiya Genji from Crows Zero!

Little bits here and there...

Well...there's not much to update on Shun at the moment...

But for starters...I'm sure many of you know about his role in Matsujun's new drama Smile and some background info into his character, the info was posted at Shun's LJ community...if you haven't seen it yet, here's a little recap:

Shun's character's name is Hayashi Seiji, apparently he's Bito's (Matsujun) arch enemy in the drama...he is the leader of the delinquent gang Bito used to belong to, Seiji is said to cause trouble for Bito and is the dictator of all the things that has gone wrong in Bito's life.

Seeing the 2 close friends playing enemies is a rarity, in the past, they were always portraying roles of bestfriends; from the delinquent pair of Shin & "Uchi" in Gokusen, to the renown bestfriends and "love rivals" of Domyoji Tsukasa and Hanazawa Rui from the famous F4 in Hana Yori Dango.
I'm eager to see how these 2 guys handle it when they're at opposite ends of the table this time.

Secondly, 'Smile' aside...here's another quick update on the Tenchijin ratings:
After ep 13's dramatic drop in ratings from 21.7% to 17.8%, fortunately the drama did pick itself up again with a rise to 19.8% the following week...while ep 15 which was aired last Sunday night attracted ratings of 19.6%...a slight drop again, but it's hardly any concern.
Ratings like these are fantastic, but it would be even better to see these numbers rise to the 20's again.

Basically the article just says that there was a special "graduation" ceremony held for Crows Zero II on the 11th, all the casts attended, including director Takashi Miike, there they received "diplomas".

I used an online translator to translate the article, but the translation was quite off and didn't make much sense, so I had to make do with what I had...I tried my best to understand the translation, and based on what I've come up with, this is basically what the article was about...if there are any mistakes, feel free to correct me.
